Different uses for monochrome and color laser printers

Posted Wednesday, December 8th, 2010 by .

There are hundreds of printer models that are introduced each year, many with different features and functions.  Some have multiple purposes, while others are dedicated to a single task.  Some are bulky and designed to handle larger sizes of paper and heavy volumes, while others are compact and best suited for small offices or personal use.  One of the major differences, however, is the range of colors a given unit can produce.  If it is a monochrome device, only black and white documents are possible.  Color laser printers have four different color cartridges, such as HP CB543A toner, which can blend together to make almost any color.

Most standard offices will not have much of a need for multiple colors.  When the majority of the printing is invoices, orders or memos, black and white will be just fine.  Having multiple toner cartridges to maintain, such as Brother TN115Y toner as well as cyan, magenta and black, will end up costing offices more money that can be allowed in a typical budget.  Plus, quite frankly, it’s absolutely unnecessary to have the option of color printing when it rarely takes place.

However, if the office has high demand for graphics printing, the monochrome units will not suffice.  Color laser printers are among the best for producing intricate and complex graphics and photos.  This type of machine will cost more than a monochrome device, but if the need is there, the price is worth it.  Color printers are also good for home users that enjoy printing digital photos.  Not only does it have the quality of a photo lab due to high-grade toner, such as Dell 310-6640 toner, it has the speed to appease those with little patience.

Overall, before buying a printer, it is important to understand the bulk of your needs.  Though having a color printer may seem like a cool idea, if it is not needed, it will inevitably be a waste of money.  Whichever type of device best suits your needs, be sure to find the most efficient and the most economical choice.
