Go green by recycling cartridges
One growing trend lately has been recycling and reusing. The “green” movement has taken the world by storm, partially due to recent developments and findings. Mentioning terms like “global warming” and “stability” make people want to do their part to help save the earth. One way that people can make a large impact without a large time commitment is ink and toner recycling. Over 370,000 used cartridges are thrown away every year in the United States alone, which accounts for a significant amount of trash and waste. Not only that, but it adds up to a large cost in transportation which could actually be avoided. This transportation also causes pollution, so it is a very good idea to adopt any way around all of these unnecessary steps.
Recycling ink and toner cartridges is a great solution. It can be incredibly beneficial to businesses and individuals for a few reasons. First, it allows businesses and people to feel good about themselves and also advertise that appropriate “green” measures have been taking place. Not only is it helpful to the environment, it also looks very good and is admirable. Studies have also shown that a significant portion of the population is more likely to shop at ecologically responsible businesses.
Second, many recycling programs offer cash reimbursements for returning used printing supplies. Inkjet and toner refills can be incredibly expensive, even to the point of being prohibitive. Many internet sites will provide a monetary reward, and often other sites will give you store credit towards purchasing new products, such as a Xerox or Brother toner cartridge. If this is not an option, most retail stores that carry printers and ink/toner cartridges also provide adequate recycling services, and many even have a drop box inside the store. Even if this is not bringing in substantial amounts of capital, it is still a free and very easy way to help save the environment.
A third idea is to start a collection between multiple businesses or individuals. This could actually bring in enough money to completely alleviate printer spending. Since roughly one toner or ink cartridge is thrown away every year per American, one person or business recycling the used products from multiple sources could make a huge difference. Making money while saving the earth sounds like a good idea for everyone.
