Help your planet by recycling ink cartridges
There are various types of printers on the market, all of them printing with either ink or toner. Laser printers have cartridges of powder toner, while inkjets have cartridges of liquid ink. There are also Xerox printers that use Phaser ink sticks. The latter is by far the most environmentally sound option, requiring no cartridge and producing no waste.
Recycling is not a priority for a lot of people, but the consequences of continuing to waste useable products could be catastrophic. Did you know that there is a mass of wasted plastic in the middle of the Pacific Ocean that is larger than the great nation of America? Landfills are overflowing, and soon perfectly green Earth that houses natures animals and nutrients will be turned into wastelands.
Millions of cartridges are thrown away each year. Perhaps people do not realize that these can be used over and over again. Remanufacturing companies will refill the cartridges with printer ink or toner and sell them at a reduced price. These reused tanks still produce high quality prints and save buyers an immense amount of money. Once an inkjet cartridge has been recycled a few times, the plastic can be melted down and used for other various things, like park benches.
Some companies will offer cash back for cartridges, while others will provide discounts or vouchers. Even if a company doesn’t give rewards, it is our responsibility to take care of the environment so our children’s children can experience the beauty of this world as we have.
Our planet is suffering from the massive amount of pollution and people’s lack of concern for the consequences of their choices. Something as simple as sending an empty ink cartridge to a recycling company can truly make a difference. So, next time you are printing something for work or school, and the Epson ink starts to run out, instead of tossing the empty cartridge into the trash, why not toss it into a recycling bin.
