Ink cartridge useful storage tips

Whether you use toner or ink, there are a few steps that you should follow in order to properly store cartridges and solid ink that are not being used. It is extremely economical to purchase your products in bulk; you can save up to half of the price of a toner or ink which is why you will need to read through these helpful storage tips.

Tip #1 Always keep your replacement ink or black toner cartridges inside of their original packaging. This protective packaging is made special to protect your cartridges from elements that can damage them. You should keep your replacements inside of the packaging that they come in until you are ready to use them.

Tip #2 Always store your unused cartridges away from light, heat, and humidity. These three elements will cause the most damage to your cartridge. The sun and other lighting can do the most damage. Just a brief moment of exposure to light can permanently ruin a completely new cartridge. These delicate instruments are very sensitive to light.

Humidity is also another enemy. Humidity will get inside of the delicate inner parts of your cartridge. Too much humidity build up can render a new cartridge completely useless. And finally, extreme heat or cold can also permanently damage a cartridge. You will want to store your replacement Brother MFC-7340 toner cartridges or Xerox ink cartridges between the 32 to 90 degree mark.

Tip #3 Keep the area in which your store your cartridges as dust free as possible. If you keep your cartridge in its original packaging you shouldn’t have to worry about dust. However, if you are storing your cartridge somewhere and you have removed the protective packaging you will want to select a dust free area. Dust will damage both your printer and your replacement cartridges so try to dust around the area in which you keep your computer set up as frequently as possible.

Tip #4 You can store a replacement cartridge in its original packaging for up to years. If you cartridge has been removed from its packaging it can lest for six months if kept away from the damaging elements listed above.
