The importance of toner recycling
If you are like me, you never cared too much for recycling or doing your part to help the environment. It has always seemed like an annoyance rather than a service. However, there is no denying the change in the weather and the scientific possibilities of global warming. So how do we make a change? Well, you can start with your empty toner cartridges.
If you go to a landfill and look around, chances are you will find so many things that are reusable. It is unsettling how much material we throw away that we could be using for other things. Hundreds of thousands of toner cartridges are sold each year, and most are disposed of when empty. If people would just send their empty cartridges into one of the companies that offers the recycling program, so much wasted plastic could be saved.
A major part of toner sales is remanufactured cartridges. When one is empty, certified resellers can refill it with toner and sell it for a much cheaper price. Each cartridge can only be refilled a few times before it starts to affect the quality of prints, but even beyond that the empties can be reused. The bits and pieces of plastic can be melted down to used to make something different, like a park bench.
Whether you are using Samsung toner or Canon toner, the cartridges are functioning pieces of plastic that can be reused for the same purpose or for something completely different. Either way, there is no reason to fill the Earth with more trash if we don’t have to. Even better, some places will offer a discount or cash back as incentive to recycle your toner cartridges.
A lot of people in this world think it is everyone else’s responsibility to take care of the planet. However, if those people would just realize how simple it is to contribute, perhaps more would. So next time you run out of printer toner, instead of throwing your old cartridge away, send it in to one of the many companies that can use it for something productive.
