When you recycle toner cartridges, you can do more than just save the earth. It’s a great way to bring a little extra money into the office, if you find one of the many programs out there that reuse toner cartridges and pay customers to mail their old ones in. It’s always great to get those checks in the mail from those old Xerox 6350 toner cartridges – it can be unexpected and helpful. Like any other sort of unexpected sources of money, you can wonder what sort of things you should be doing with the cash. Here are a few ideas on intelligent ways to invest or spend that bit of extra money earned from sending in those used cartridges.

- Invest that money from the Xerox toner cartridge recycling program in a fun activity or treat for your office. For some people, that’s their first instinct – once you get your hands on unexpected cash, use it for something you normally don’t do. Perhaps it’s rare to get to have a bit of “mad money” in the office, so you should try hard to use it in a way that gives everyone a smile. You can either spend that money as it comes in, but using that small monthly check for some candy from the gas station, or set it aside for a larger yearly treat. In the course of a year, figure out how much you can earn from recycling those cartridges and figure out a treat to spend that cash on. It could be for taking your office out to a sports event or paying for a decadent meal for the holidays. No matter what you decide to use the money on, it will surely make a difference in your workplace.

- Use the money from your Oki toner cartridge collection to invest back into the environment. Since you are already recycling those cartridges, use that money and take your environmentalism even further. You can take that bit of do-gooder attitude you have and turn it up a notch. Figure out what else you can do in your office to help the earth and spend that extra money to do those things. Maybe this means taking that recycled Dell toner money and paying the dump company to start picking up your recyclables. Perhaps you start investing that Xerox toner cash in new long-lasting CF light bulbs. Whatever it is that you think you might be able to do, take that bit of money and do it!
